Big Sky Care Connect (BSCC), Montana’s statewide health information exchange (HIE), is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to serve as Vice President, Program & Operations. With expanded funding and statewide initiatives underway, BSCC is entering a pivotal phase of growth and innovation.
This executive healthcare operations role is ideal for a leader with experience in healthcare interoperability, Health Information Exchange (HIE), Health IT, health informatics, and healthcare data infrastructure. The Vice President, Program & Operations will help advance healthcare data exchange across Montana and the Rocky Mountain region, supporting rural health transformation, multi-stakeholder healthcare collaboration, and the continued adoption of interoperability standards including FHIR and HL7.

BSCC plays a critical role in enabling statewide data exchange and improving healthcare delivery across Montana. BSCC collaborates with healthcare providers, payors/payers, public health partners, technology partners, and national interoperability organizations to strengthen healthcare data exchange infrastructure and improve care coordination across Montana. With new funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program, the organization is expanding and increasing its scope. This role is essential to leading that expansion by ensuring operational readiness, scaling partner engagement, and delivering on priorities.
As Montana’s healthcare ecosystem continues to evolve, BSCC’s work connects healthcare interoperability, Health Information Exchange (HIE), Health IT, health informatics, healthcare data infrastructure, and healthcare data exchange into practical tools that support providers, payors, public health partners, rural communities, and patients across the Rocky Mountain region.

The position is remote within the United States, though Montana residency is strongly preferred. BSCC is committed to improving healthcare access and coordination across Montana, which requires this position to develop strong in-state networks through regular in-person engagement in Helena and other locations throughout the state to support healthcare innovation and collaborative problem-solving.

Preferred experience includes leadership in healthcare interoperability, Health Information Exchange (HIE), Health IT operations, health informatics, healthcare data infrastructure, healthcare data exchange, FHIR, HL7, rural health transformation, executive healthcare operations, and collaborative work across providers, payors, public health agencies, technology partners, and other Rocky Mountain region healthcare stakeholders.
We are seeking candidates with experience in:
Requires education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, information technology, health informatics, data science, or related field and seven years of leadership experience in healthcare, HIE, health IT, healthcare interoperability, healthcare data infrastructure, healthcare data exchange, executive healthcare operations, or a related field.
The salary range for this position is $200,000 – $230,000 annually depending on qualifications. This position is eligible for market- and performance-based salary increases and bonuses.
